Community Midwifery Access Program
Every family deserves access to respectful, evidence informed maternity care, regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Community Midwifery Access Program was created to help remove financial barriers to prenatal and postpartum care while building healthier families and stronger communities. Through a sliding scale model, we provide personalized care for qualifying low risk clients, ensuring cost is never the only reason someone goes without maternity care.
How is the Community Midwifery Access Program different?
Unlike many traditional clinics, our program offers relationship centered care with longer appointments, individualized education, and continuity throughout pregnancy and postpartum. We take time to answer your questions, discuss your options, and support informed decision making while connecting families with additional community resources when needed.
Services Provided:
Pregnancy Confirmation
Prenatal Education & Care
Labs
Childbirth Education
Referrals & Community Resources
Postpartum Care for Mom & Baby
Breastfeeding & Lactation Support
Option to Birth at the Birth Center for a discounted rate
How does the sliding scale work?
Our recommended fees are based on a sliding scale so families can contribute what they are reasonably able to afford. We believe finances should never prevent someone from seeking prenatal or postpartum care. If cost is a concern, please reach out we're happy to discuss your individual situation confidentially.
Who is eligible?
The Community Midwifery Access Program is designed for low risk pregnant women who may not otherwise be able to access community midwifery care. Eligibility is determined through a consultation and review of your medical history to ensure community based care is appropriate for you and your baby.
Every family deserves to be seen, heard, and supported throughout their journey into parenthood.
Birthing at the Birth Center
Many families receiving prenatal care through our Access Program also desire an out of hospital birth.
Eligible clients who establish care before 32 weeks may choose to birth at DFW Community Birth & Wellness at a deeply discounted sliding scale rate of $2,600–$3,800. This option includes comprehensive birth center care with a Licensed Midwife and birth assistant.
Birth center eligibility is determined based on medical history, ongoing risk assessment, and available capacity. VBAC and twin pregnancies may be considered on a case by case basis. Home births are not currently offered through the Access Program.
