Prescription Medication Policy

It is our goal at DFW Community Birth & Wellness to provide you with the best care possible and to assist you with getting your prescriptions in a timely and efficient manner. To streamline the process of getting you your prescription we have implemented the following policy. Please note in the State of Texas Licensed Midwives do not have prescriptive authority, we have standing orders signed off by a consulting physician. These orders are updated yearly so it is possible that we may not have the prescription you may need on our standing orders. You may need to make an appointment with our consulting physician or another provider. Most of the medications on our standing orders are for common needs during pregnancy and birth. Example can call in antibiotics for a urinary tract infection but not for a sinus infection.

All prescription requests should be emailed to hello@dfwcommunitybirths.com

It is the clients responsibility to notify the midwives in a timely manner when refills are necessary. Please allow 5 business days for your refill request to be processed, so do not wait until you are out to request your refill.

Medication refills will only be handled during business hours. No prescriptions will be called in on Saturday, Sunday or Holidays.

Prescription refills require close monitoring. You will be given the appropriate number of refills needed. It may be possible your prescription may not come with refills.

We cannot guarantee that the prescription you may need is on our standing orders. You may need to make an appointment with our consulting physician or a care provider of your choice, especially if something is out of our scope of practice.
